A rare and quietly luxurious textile, lotus silk offers a completely different experience to conventional silk. With a soft, matte finish rather than a high shine, it creates a more grounded and refined aesthetic while maintaining an elegant drape.

Unlike traditional silk, which can sometimes feel slippery or trap heat, lotus silk is naturally breathable and thermoregulating. This means it allows air to circulate while gently adapting to your body temperature, helping the fabric remain cool, dry, and comfortable against the skin. This effect comes from the fibre’s structure, which is rich in natural cellulose. Cellulose fibres have a unique ability to absorb and release moisture efficiently, preventing that heavy or clingy feeling often associated with other fabrics.

The fibre itself is extracted by hand from the stems of the lotus plant, an intricate and time-intensive process that requires precision and skill. Lotus plants grow directly in water, meaning they require no artificial irrigation, no pesticides, and minimal human intervention. This makes lotus silk one of the most environmentally harmonious fibres available!

The fabric carries a subtle texture that feels soft, alive, and breathable, offering both comfort and longevity. Its rarity and labour-intensive creation make it an uncommon material, but one that stands apart for its natural performance and understated beauty.

 Care Info

To preserve the integrity and longevity of your garment, just like any natural fabric, gentle care is essential.
Wash in cold water using a delicate hand-wash or a machine delicate cycle inside a mesh bag. Use a mild, natural detergent free from harsh chemicals or optical brighteners, as these can weaken the fibre over time.

After washing, reshape the garment and allow it to dry in the shade. Avoid direct sunlight for long periods of time.

If needed, iron on low heat using a press cloth, or use a garment steamer to release wrinkles without direct pressure. Do not iron over elasticated band.

As lotus silk is a cellulose-based filament, it is both breathable and strong, but not suited to rough handling, high heat, or aggressive spinning. After the first few washes, you can assess colour stability and, if stable, continue using a gentle machine cycle with similar colours.
Handled with care, this fabric will maintain its softness, structure, and natural elegance over time.
